Advice from successful entrepreneurs

Running a private practice isn’t easy. And, for those of you wanting to start a private practice, you may be overcome with fear and uncertainty about the way forward. For this reason, I decided to collate quotes from some of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world offering advice regarding their experience as business entrepreneurs.

While some are famous entrepreneurs, others operate more under the radar. Either way, they provide some valuable entrepreneur ideas that should help you navigate your social entrepreneurship. Remember these 12 tips and you should be good to go!

1. Have Passion

Chase Jarvis (Founder of CreativeLive): “Go after solving a problem that you have. Something that’s near and dear to you, not some random market opportunity. Because, when things get hard, if you’re chasing just the dollars, or a random market opportunity, you’re not going to be able to have the fortitude, the passion, to stay with it.”

2. Be Focused

Jon Acuff (New York Times best-selling Author of five books, including Do Over): “Hustle is an act of focus, not frenzy. Hustle is about subtraction and addition. It’s not about doing more, it’s about focusing on the things you need to do, in order to move your business forward.”

3. Ignore Nay-Sayers

Sophia Amoruso (Founder of Nasty Gal, Author of #GIRLBOSS): “The people who told me no were the people who eventually told me yes.”

4. Maintain Vision

Nir Eyal (Author of Hooked): “It’s up to us as entrepreneurs, to see the world as it should be –not necessarily how it is. When you think you’re sure of the way things are, that’s when you get passed up and you don’t see the opportunities that real entrepreneurs envision.”

5. Take Risks

Mark Zuckerburg (Founder of Facebook): “The biggest risk is not taking any risk… In a world that’s changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks.”

6. Network

Clare Dreyer (Coach, Author, Speaker): “Network! Make connections and keep a record on each person you meet. Ask for their advice and help. Keep in touch with them along the way and build your network before you need it! Quality relationships are the keys to the kingdom.”

7. Act Now

Chris Beatty (Internet Entrepreneur):“Don’t wait for everything to be perfect before you make your first step. Dive in and learn as you go!”

8. Enjoy The Journey

Ahava Shira (Life Coach): “Learn to love the journey. Enjoy the slow steady movements toward what you dream of. And take refuge in the simple comforts of loving relationships, dear friends and your creative vision. Remember to smell the flowers often, listen to the birds, befriend fear. I’ll say that one again, befriend fear because it will likely be a constant companion. Nothing wrong with that, as a teacher told me, fear means: Prepare to Grow!”

9. Be Smart With Your Finance

Michelle Marciniak (Co-Founder of SHEEX): “Get a finance person by your side because you absolutely need to know your numbers.”

10. Perservere

Kelsey Ramsden (Founder of Belvedere Place Contracting): “When it gets tough you have to gut it out because that’s the moment that differentiates.”

11. Be a Realist

Jim Fowler (Founder and CEO of Owler): “Become an optimistic realist. You can’t run a business on best case scenario.”

12. Outsource

William Harris (Founder of Elumynt): “Outsource tasks that stop you from what only you can do in your business.”
